Delhi is the proud host of the Commonwealth Games 2010 – the first time ever the great event is being held in India and only the second time for Asia to hold the CWG. India tour operators have come up with interesting tour packages that offer you a visit to the game venues as well as the handpicked destinations in India for the convenience of the tourists and visitors who will come to India for the event. India Tours 2010, for the last quarter, include umpteen opportunities to explore India at its best – rubbed and polished to reinforce the image of brand India among the world.

India Tours 2010, covering the Seven Wonders of India, as published by the Times of India or as voted by the popular news channel NDTV, are a good idea to explore. You must have already heard about one of the Seven Wonders of the World – Taj Mahal. Sun Temple at Konark, the erotic sculptures of Khajuraho Temples, and the first residential university of the world – Nalanda University – near Patna in Bihar have secured the place of ‘Wonders of India’ by both the news giants.

The Golden Temple or Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar in Punjab is the fifth wonder on the list of Times of India (TOI). The carved wooden panels and the elaborate inlay work in silver and gold graces this oldest Sikh Gurudwara that exists. Ruins of Hampi in Karnataka offer a legacy of architecture, painting, and sculpture styles of the Vijaynagar Empire, popular from 14th to 16th centuries. The giant statue of the Jain saint Gomateshwara in Shravanabelagola (in the Hassan district of Karnataka) is the seventh wonder on the TOI list. 60 ft tall, this statue is more than 1000 years old and has no support up to the thighs. One can see this statue from 30 kms!

The other four wonders on the list of NDTV are the Red Fort in Delhi – the pride of India and a symbol of its sovereignty where the President unfurls the India tricolor flag on every Independence Day; the Golden Fort in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan – one of the largest forts in the world; the Dholavira site in Gujarat – one of the major archeological sites in India belonging to the era of Indus Valley Civilization; and the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu with a Thousand Pillared Hall, which actually has only 985 pillars with intricate carvings.

India Tours 2010 for the last quarter also feature the world’s biggest camel and cattle fair – Pushkar Fair – that forms the most prominent cultural attraction of India. Winter is also the time for celebration in India and if you extend your stay for some time, you will be able to see Navratri in Bengali, Dussehra of Kullu or Mysore, and Diwali all over India that offer visual delights and amazing display of religious gaiety of India. India Tours 2010 can offer you a variety of experiences – from adventure to wildlife, from spiritual sites to Ayurveda therapies, and from Himalayas to idyllic islands in the sea. You only have to dare to choose and you can experience your greatest fun-filled vacation yet.
